Each day passing by,
Wondering what is of utmost importance.
A chase for livelihood or a higher pursuit?
Oh Krishna, there can be no greater happiness than your service!
With every ticking moment,
both my hands being pulled in two different directions!
A life of materialism and riches or an enlightening path?
I choose to surrender to you Mukunda, you are my savior!
In every stage of life, flowers of attachment bloom to take me astray,
and the illusion of the mind, that takes me away.
I choose to meditate on your name,
He Govinda, your name which liberates all suffering!
Every moment gone without having surrendered to you,
Every moment passed without singing your glory,
Every moment whiled away without reading your glory!
Every moment lost without taking steps towards you,
is an utter waste of this precious life of mine!
With this realization, I pray to you, Sripathi,
guide me always to be immersed in your thoughts,
Note: A poem inspired by Bhakti. A realization that dawns often making us wonder what the purpose of life is. At times filling us with guilt for not having spent it for the highest purpose, that is self realization or attaining divine knowledge.
