An Old Age Home

Oh, Once a noble and beloved son of Bhārath!

Is it your Dharma to forget your parents?

Is it your Dharma to forget their unconditional love for you?

Is an old age home the way you repay?

Is an old age home the token of your gratitude?

Oh most dearest to them, than the entire world!

Is it your Dharma to cut ties with them forever?

Is it your Dharma to neglect their ill health?

Is your achievement and ambition greater,

when their body becomes feeble and tender, just like yours when you were an infant?

Is an old age home the way you repay?

Is an old age home the token of your gratitude?

Oh successful one, the world may praise you for your success!

Your awards and accolades are redundant,

if you neglect the Dharma that you owe to your parents!

Remember that your ego and your goals are time bound!

Remember that your youth and your pretty wife, are time bound!

Remember that your wealth is time bound!

Remember that you will be where they are one day, too!

Oh Mind, Meditate on the Lord!

Oh mind, meditate on Nārāyaṇa,
before death stands at your doorstep,
before you realise that it's too late,
and the body lies sick and tired on the deathbed!

Oh Mind, meditate on Dāmodara,
before these limbs become weak due to old age,
before organs fail to function,
and the body cripples and becomes feeble!

Oh Mind, meditate on Śrīpati,
for time ticks away very quickly,
to be free from suffering,
to break free from the cycle of birth and death!

Oh mind meditate on Janārdhana,
to save yourself from this worldly suffering
beginning at the mothers womb again and yet again
and this illusive temporary cycle of Samsārā!

Oh mind meditate on Chakrapāṇi,
so that you see him in you and in everything,
so that you realise the eternal truth,
so that you fulfill the true purpose of life!

Oh mind meditate on Śri Hari,
surrender at his lotus feet!
There is no task holier than this!
There is no goal higher than this!
There is no greater achievement than this!

of true devotion to be your consort

of true respect to learn and grow with you,

Oh Lord Śambhu, be my Guru

Lost forever and ever in this ocean of Samsāra,

amidst pain, grief and worldly pleasures,

forgetting the higher purpose of life,

drowning again and yet again in the same stream,

Relieve me of this suffering,

Oh Lord Śambhu, be my Guru!

Oh Nilakanṭha, forever being immersed in daily duties,

entangled in emotions and in thoughts.

With anger, greed, pleasure, might and pride dancing in my mind,

my foolish mind forgets to chant your name!

Forgive me and accept me,

Oh Lord Śambhu, be my Guru!

When sorrow comes it brings me closer to you,

for I know that this body is to be cast off,

like a garment on this earthly plane,

leaving all worldly gains and all worldly transactions which end here,

it is my soul alone which is pure enough to experience you!

Oh Lord Śambhu, be my Guru!

When worldly bonds break free of attachment,

bonds that are selfish and with the element of ego

nullifying the karmic ties and their consequences,

true and unconditional love blossoms

and brings me closer to you, the abode of grace!

Oh Lord Śambhu, be my Guru! Be my Guru! Be my Guru!

When Nothing Goes My Way

When nothing goes my way,

I just wait endlessly for the sparkle,

the sparkle of hope, quietly sobbing within!

When no actions bear fruits,

I wait with forbearance,

quiet strength veiled by doubt!

When there is no reciprocation,

I recollect that wisdom says

love isn't a commodity.

When there is no praise or appreciation,

I comfort myself with wisdom from the ages,

to perform actions without expecting results!

When everything becomes uncertain,

with turmoil and uncertainty alone,

I still wait for the ray of light, of hope and truth!
